This troop was founded in 2008 when a homeschool group of Girl Scouts became very dissatisfied with the direction that organization was taking. At the end of the scout year 2008, Girl Scout Troop 1142 was disbanded and AHG Troop TX1202 began. This group of concerned homeschool moms decided the struggle and inconvenience of moving from a well-established, well-connected group like Girl Scouts, to this fledgling organization, was worth the effort to make sure their girls were receiving a moral message and program.
1202 was selected as the troop number because of Romans 12:02; Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. This is the emphasis of the group; to be a place girls can practice a pattern of transforming and renewing their minds in the will of God around other girls who have the same focus.
We are still a group of concerned homeschool moms who want the best for our girls and are willing to expend extreme effort to make that happen. In order for this group to be successful, each and every family must be willing to expend that same effort. There are a variety of ways for families and individuals to contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the group. No position is insignificant; some positions are more involved than others; you are free to volunteer for multiple small tasks instead of one large task; please pray and ask God to reveal where you can be most helpful and most happy in continuing this work.
